The history of the Brinkmann Family from Levi Michael Bringmann, born in 1753 and his wife Blumgen Isaac born in 1769 through their living descendants is treated in this book.

Michael Brinkmann M.D., the grandson of Levi Bringmann was born in Frieda in what today is Germany, and graduated from medical school at the University of Marburg in 1848.

He served as a surgeon in the German Army during the revolution in Baden in 1848-1849. The following year he was appointed assistant to the Court Physician and placed in charge of the Alexanderbad, a famous German spa, the baths of which were believed to have curative powers. His specialty was hydrotherapy.

In 1852 he emigrated to Philadelphia where he continued his work in hydrotherapy, developing a large medical practice.

Bruce Greenberg, the author, is the great, great, great, great grandson of Levi Michael Brinkmann. Brinkmann Publishing LLC is named for Michael Brinkmann, M.D.
